Coach David Marquez is a homegrown Walla Walla purple belt receiving both his blue belt and purple belt under Professor Dennis Asche. David won bronze at IBJJF Master Worlds in 2021 and is undefeated at his rank of purple belt.

Since 2021, David has been the head coach for Connection Rio BJJ in Walla Walla, helping our academy begin the very first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program for kids in the Walla Walla area. He is now an assistant coach for Connection Rio and actively gearing up his training for the competition scene.

David is a phenominal wrestler and placed in the State Championship during his high school years. He has over 10 years experience coaching high school and youth wrestling. Before accepting the position for head coach at Connection Rio BJJ, David accepted the position as head female wrestling coach for the girls Walla Walla high school team.

In 2022, David received his Gracie Survival Tactics Level One certification. David gives 110% to his family, community, coaching, and as an athlete. We are extremely blessed to have David as a part of our community and BJJ family.
